Announcement: Evaer call recorder for Skype will continue to work after Skype removes the Desktop API in December 2013 !

Skype has recently announced that it would no longer support the desktop API by the end of 2013, this will render all add-on products based on the Skype desktop API useless.
But, Please don’t worry! Evaer will continue to record Skype audio & video calls,  save Skype video message and Skype voicemail as well as before.

What is the Desktop API?

The Desktop API (Skype released it in 2004) enables third-party applications to communicate with Skype. These applications can be hardware products or software applications, but they’re all created by developers who use the Desktop API to interact with Skype software.

How will it affect Skype call recorders software?

There are many Skype call recorders software based on Skype Desktop API. Those software may become useless without the Desktop API.

The good new here is that Evaer has made it not depend on Desktop API , so you can continue to record Skype audio & video calls,  save Skype video message and Skype voicemail as well as before. You just need to keep your Evaer up to date.

How to save Skype video message using Evaer video call recorder?

The latest version of Evaer can save Skype video message and Skype voicemail now!

You can save Skype video message very easily using Evaer as follows:
1, Enable the option “Enable stream acceleration mode” , “Capturing audio stream does not use the Skype API” and “Enable save Skype video mesage and voicemail” at your Evaer menu “Tools>Options”>”Advanced”tab as below image.

2, Please restart your Evaer and Skype for the acceleration mode to take effect.

3, Please choose the “Separate files” video recording mode at Evaer as below.

4, Click the video message on your Skype and Evaer will change the “Start recording” button to enable status. click the “Start recording” button to save your Skype video message. By default, it will record your Skype video message into a MP4 movie file on your PC.

Self-Adaptive video resolution and aspect ratio to record Skype video calls

As we know by now, Skype will automatically adjust the video resolution and aspect ratio to the maximum depending on the available Internet connection and CPU capabilities on both sides of the conversation. For example, if you have an HD webcam, Skype will evaluate the above-mentioned conditions between the conversation.  If conditions are good enough you’ll get an HD video call using 720p & 16:9 .  If condtions aren’t good enough, you call will be in 480p or lower but definitely in 4:3. The recorded video images maybe get distortion if you always use the same aspect ratio.

So, we have released a new version that has added the new feature — Self-Adaptive video resolution and aspect ratio. This new feature will auto-detect your Skype video calls video resolution and aspect ratio, then record it use the same video resolution and aspect ratio automatically. This will avoid the video images distortion issue.  Now, the latest Evaer video recorder supported video resolutions are 240p, 360p, 480p, 720p, 1080p and the aspect ratio are 4:3,16:9.
